Project Name:  PLAY STAR Super Urban Amusement Park 

Project Location: Jimei Wanda Plaza, Xiamen City, Fujian Province, China

Design Concept: The space is centered around the theme of “Futurism and Minimalist Industrial Style,” using a restrained design language to amplify the “sense of athletic experience” and “immersive playfulness.”

  Project Description   

The founding team of 【PLAY STAR City Super Amusement Park】 has identified the “unsaturated” market for trendy activities in Xiamen from the perspective of young people. They aim to create a trendy space that aligns with the personalities and social needs of the youth, adding vibrant colors to the urban trendscape.

1. Arcade Zone – Visual Impact & Focused Play

Design Approach: The entry zone features a dramatic ceiling installation that immediately captures attention. Dedicated subspaces for basketball, horse racing, and classic arcade machines are strategically zoned to reduce visual clutter and enhance immersion.

Functional Role: To provide both casual and skill-based play options, encouraging repeat engagement and social competition.

2. Console Gaming & E-sports Zone – Tech-Forward & Inclusive

Design Approach: Equipped with X-BOX, PS5, and Switch stations, along with professional e-sports pods designed for tournament use. Lighting and acoustics are tuned to minimize distraction and maximize focus.

Functional Role: To attract hardcore gamers while accommodating casual players, strengthening PLAY STAR’s credibility as a full-spectrum gaming destination.

3. Speed & Thrills Zone – Themed High-Energy Engagement

Design Approach: The go-kart and bumper car areas use racing-inspired graphics, dynamic lighting, and simulated engine soundscapes to enhance the sense of speed and competition.

Functional Role: To deliver adrenaline-fueled experiences that appeal to thrill-seekers and group play.

4. Digital Sports Zone – Blending Physical Activity with Tech

Design Approach: Traditional sports like bowling and tennis are reimagined with interactive projection technology and motion sensors. The area uses sleek, modern materials and gamified interfaces to make exercise engaging.

Functional Role: To attract fitness-minded visitors who seek fun, measurable, and shareable workout experiences.

5. Unpowered Playground – Safe & Energetic Free Play

Design Approach: Colorful, soft-play structures are arranged to encourage climbing, sliding, and exploration. The layout ensures clear sightlines for parents and smooth circulation for children.

Functional Role: To serve families and younger guests while balancing physical activity with safety.

6. Social & Table Games Zone – Intimate and Engaging

Design Approach: Private mahjong rooms and board game tables are set in acoustically treated spaces with mood lighting and comfortable seating to encourage long sessions and social interaction.

Functional Role: To provide a relaxed yet engaging environment for small groups and friends.

7. Chill-Out Water Bar – Thematic Reprieve

Design Approach: Using a camping-themed aesthetic with natural materials, string lights, and laid-back seating, this zone offers a visual and experiential contrast to the high-energy play areas.

Functional Role: To increase dwell time and F&B revenue while providing a rest point without losing thematic consistency.

8. Private Party Rooms – customizable and Memorable

Design Approach: Two themed party rooms (adult + child) are equipped with customizable lighting, Audio-visual equipment, and decorative elements to support birthdays, corporate events, and group celebrations.

Functional Role: To drive group bookings and repeat visits through personalized experiences.

Overall Design Philosophy:
PLAY STAR’s interior identity is built around a bold, pixel-inspired graphic language drawn from classic video games. The color scheme – vibrant yellow, Tiffany blue, and metallic gray – reinforces a retro-yet-futuristic tone. Large format graphics, dynamic lighting, and Instagrammable moments (like the Lamborghini display) are strategically placed to support organic social media promotion.

The park is not just a collection of attractions—it’s a designed journey that balances energy and calm, social and solo play, analog and digital experiences.
